Bio:
Born and raised in Zimbabwe, my journey into the world of visual storytelling began early. With my mother working for the national broadcaster, I had a unique introduction to TV and radio production. As a child, I even starred in a series of local television commercials, igniting my passion for the arts.
In 1998, after completing my A-levels, I moved to the UK and initially pursued a career in psychiatric nursing. From 2001 to 2018, I worked in the field, eventually becoming a team leader and later a team manager after earning an MBA. To manage the stress of my demanding job, I rediscovered my love for photography, a hobby that had always brought me solace.
In 2014, I took a transformative course at the Blackthorn School of Photography. This experience provided me with a solid foundation in the principles of photography and lighting, reigniting my passion for the art form.
By 2019, I had started an e-commerce business and handled my product photography, which garnered inquiries about my work and bolstered my confidence. In 2020, I landed my first paid job as an event photographer for Hogarth Worldwide, capturing the Charlie Phillips Community Exhibit. Although I continued to do event and product photography, my true passion lay elsewhere.
From September 2023 to April 2024, I was honoured with a commission by the Museum of Colour to photograph renowned British dancers and choreographers for their digital exhibition, "A Very British Rhythm." This project was a pivotal moment in my career. Not only did I serve as the photographer, but I also took on the role of artistic director for the in-motion series of portraits. These portraits were brought to life through innovative techniques like light painting, slow shutter speeds, and a combination of continuous and flash lighting.
I’m passionate about creating visual stories that express the emotion and beauty of the world we live in. My aim is to capture the genuine spirit of my subjects and experiment with different lighting techniques to create truly unique images. I am deeply inspired by timeless Monochrome and drawn to the interplay of movement, light, shadows, and contrast. This approach gives me a unique voice and style, allowing me to see and appreciate colour in a new way.
